About Shotgun Corridor
Shotgun Corridor is the smallest arena in Top-Down Arena, and it is designed for close-quarters combat. Long inner walls and spawn-room barriers form narrow corridors and doorways, while a solid block in the center creates a loop that fighters can circle. Small crates in the lanes provide just enough cover to hide behind for a heartbeat.
Each fighter carries a pump shotgun that fires a spread of seven pellets at once. Up close, the combined damage is devastating. From a distance, the pellets lose their power quickly, because they travel only a short way before disappearing. Learning that range is the key skill in this mode.
Matches move quickly. There is little room to hide, so most fights are decided in seconds by who gets the first good blast. The AI opponent in this mode reacts faster than in other modes and likes to close the distance, so expect to be rushed.
Controls & How to Play
Use the same controls as every other mode. In tight spaces, your movement keys matter just as much as your trigger finger, so practice stopping and turning quickly.
Keyboard and mouse
- Move: W, A, S, D or the arrow keys. Movement is smooth, so you glide into a stop instead of halting instantly.
- Aim: move the mouse. Your character always faces the crosshair.
- Shoot: hold the left mouse button or the Space bar.
- Reload: press R. The weapon also reloads on its own when the magazine is empty.
- Chat: press Enter to type a message when you are playing against another real person.
Phones and tablets
- Move: touch and drag anywhere on the left half of the screen. A virtual joystick appears under your thumb.
- Aim and fire: touch the right half of the screen. Drag to point your weapon in that direction, or simply hold a spot to aim at it. Your weapon fires automatically while your thumb is down.
- Tip: turn your phone sideways (landscape) so both thumbs have plenty of room.
Starting a match
Enter a nickname, select Shotgun Corridor and press Quick Play. If another player is online they will join you within a few seconds. Otherwise an AI opponent takes the slot so you can start immediately. To play with a friend, choose Create Private Room, share the four-digit code and wait for them to arrive.
How to Play Shotgun Corridor (Step by Step)
- Press Play Now in the game box above, or use the Open in a separate page link. Enter a nickname.
- Select the Shotgun Corridor card and press Quick Play, or create a private room to play with a friend.
- Move with W, A, S, D or the arrow keys. On a phone, drag with your left thumb.
- Aim with the mouse and shoot with the left button or Space. On a phone, drag with your right thumb and the weapon fires automatically.
- Dealing with your opponent: Wait for your opponent to come into close range, then fire a full blast. Use the walls to hide your approach and the center block to circle.
- How to win: Be the first fighter to score five kills. Most fights are decided in seconds, so winning the first close-range blast matters.
- To restart, press Rematch on the results screen, or press Lobby to choose another mode. See the full How to Play guide for the lobby, rooms and controls.
Game Objective
The objective of Shotgun Corridor is to score five kills before your rival. The arena is tight and the shotgun is only powerful at short range, so the whole match is a contest over who gets into their ideal distance first.
Gameplay Mechanics
- Pellets: one blast fires seven pellets, each dealing 10 damage. A perfect point-blank hit does up to 70 damage, so two good blasts defeat an opponent.
- Short range: pellets fade after a short distance, so the weapon is nearly useless across the map.
- Spread: the pellets spread out in a cone, which makes the shotgun forgiving at close range but unreliable farther away.
- Fire rate and ammo: about one blast every 0.8 seconds. A magazine holds six shells and a reload takes 1.9 seconds.
- Tight map: long walls and spawn-room barriers form narrow corridors, with a solid block in the center that fighters can circle.
- Medkits: only up to two medkits can be on the map at the same time, each healing 45 health.
- Respawn: defeated fighters return after about two seconds, with protection that ends when they fire.
Rules & Game Mechanics
- Goal: the first fighter to score five kills wins.
- Damage: each pellet deals 10 damage and a blast fires seven pellets. A point-blank hit can deal up to 70 damage, so two good blasts will finish an opponent.
- Range: pellets only travel a short distance, so the shotgun is effective at close range and nearly useless from across the map.
- Fire rate and reload: you can fire about once every 0.8 seconds. The magazine holds six shells and a reload takes 1.9 seconds.
- Respawns: defeated fighters return after roughly two seconds, with short protection that ends when they fire.
- Medkits: up to two medkits can be on the map at the same time, and each restores 45 health. With so few kits, controlling them matters.
Pro Tips & High-Score Strategies
- Approach corners wide. Taking a curved path gives you a better angle and prevents your opponent from catching you at point-blank range first.
- Do not waste shells at long range. If the pellets cannot reach your target, wait until you are close enough for a full-damage blast.
- Count your shots. With only six shells and a 1.9-second reload, an empty shotgun in a corridor can end your round on the spot.
- Use the center block to circle your opponent. Because the block is solid, you can pop out of one side when they expect you on the other.
- Time your blast for the instant they come around a wall. Fire as soon as you see them, since a faster first shot usually wins.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How far can the shotgun hit?
Its pellets travel only a short distance, roughly a couple hundred pixels in the game world. Anything beyond that is out of range, so you need to get close.
How much damage does one blast do?
Each of the seven pellets deals 10 damage, so a perfect point-blank hit can do up to 70. Most real fights land somewhere in between.
Is this mode good for beginners?
Yes. The small map means you always know where your opponent is, which makes it a great place to practice movement and aiming.
Can I play Shotgun Corridor with a friend?
Absolutely. Create a private room, share the four-digit code, and your friend can join your match from any device with a browser.
Beginner Tips for Shotgun Corridor
- Do not fire from far away. If your opponent is not close, wait.
- Approach corners in a wide curve so you see your opponent before they see you.
- Count your shells. Six goes quickly, and an empty shotgun in a corridor is dangerous.
- Reload behind a wall as soon as a fight ends.
- Use the center block to circle your opponent and pop out from the unexpected side.
- Do not back away in a straight line. A faster opponent will simply follow and blast you.
- Fire as soon as your opponent enters your range, since the first blast usually wins.
- Keep an eye on the two medkits. With so few on the map, they matter.
Advanced Strategy
Own the distance. You want your opponent inside your short range while you are around a corner or behind a wall. Choose positions where they must walk into you.
Bait the empty gun. After your opponent fires, they must wait before the next shot. Step in during that pause for a full blast.
Use the loop. The center block lets you run in a circle. Change direction suddenly to break your opponent's prediction.
Control the medkits. There are only two, so a medkit often decides a close match. Position yourself near one when your health is low.
Common Mistakes
These are the habits that cost players the most matches. Fix them and your results improve quickly.
- Firing at long range and wasting shells.
- Walking down a corridor in a straight line.
- Running out of shells at the worst possible moment.
- Retreating in the open instead of behind a wall.
- Ignoring the medkits.
Tips for Better Performance
- Close extra tabs and heavy apps before you start. The game redraws the whole arena about 60 times per second, and free memory helps it stay smooth.
- Use an up-to-date browser and keep hardware acceleration switched on in the browser settings so the canvas can use your graphics chip.
- On a laptop, plug in the charger and turn off battery-saver mode. Power saving can lower the frame rate.
- For multiplayer, a stable connection matters more than raw speed. Use a wired connection or a strong Wi-Fi signal and pause downloads or streaming on the same network.
- If the game feels cramped or choppy inside a page, press the Full screen button or use the Open in a separate page link so the game gets the whole window.
- Turn off a VPN while you play multiplayer if you notice delay, because it adds extra distance to the connection.
- Keep your browser zoom at 100 percent. Very high zoom levels make the game window smaller and harder to read.
Mobile Gaming Guide
The map is small, so a phone screen shows almost everything. Use quick taps and drags with the right thumb and keep your left thumb moving.
- Rotate your phone to landscape. Both thumbs get more room and you see more of the arena.
- Left thumb moves, right thumb aims and fires. Your weapon shoots automatically while the right thumb is down, so lift it when you want to stop firing or reload.
- For precise aiming, make small drags near the middle of the right half of the screen. Big swings make you overshoot the target.
- Clear the screen of notifications before a match. Turning on Do Not Disturb stops a call banner from interrupting a fight.
- Close other apps and keep brightness reasonable. A hot phone slows itself down, which lowers the frame rate.
- Use an up-to-date mobile browser. Opening the page inside another app's built-in browser may limit full screen or microphone access, so a normal browser is the safer choice.
- Not every phone browser supports full screen for embedded content. If the button does nothing, use the Open in a separate page link.
Desktop Gaming Guide
Fast, small movements matter more than precision aiming here. Practice stopping with a quick tap of the opposite key.
- Rest your left hand on W, A, S, D (or use the arrow keys) and keep your right hand on the mouse. Space also fires, which is handy if you use a trackpad.
- The game follows your mouse pointer, so your operating system's pointer speed sets your aiming speed. Pick a speed that lets you turn around quickly without overshooting, then stay with it.
- Use a real mouse if you can. Aiming with a laptop trackpad is possible but slower and less precise.
- Press R to reload as soon as you are behind cover. You do not need to wait for the magazine to run dry.
- Click inside the game once after it loads so the keyboard goes to the game. Press Enter to chat with a human opponent and Esc to close the chat box.
- Use the Full screen button for a bigger picture, and press Esc to leave full screen.
Troubleshooting
The game does not load or Play Now does nothing
Make sure JavaScript is enabled and refresh the page. Then try the Open in a separate page link. If a browser extension, school network or work network blocks the multiplayer library, Quick Play can still start a match against the computer opponent, but private rooms will not work until the library can load.
The controls do not respond
Click inside the game area once so it receives your keys. If you have just used the chat box or the nickname field, click the game again. On a phone, touch the left half to move and the right half to aim, and make sure no other app or notification is covering the screen.
The game lags or stutters
Close other tabs and apps, plug in a laptop and turn off battery saver. If the game is smooth against the computer opponent but laggy online, the problem is the network, so move closer to your router or use a cable. Our guide on reducing lag and understanding ping goes into more detail.
There is no sound or music
Browsers only start audio after you click or tap, so press a key or click in the game once. Check that the Music button in the top-left corner does not say Off, that your device is not on silent and that the tab is not muted. For a friend's voice, check the speaker button as well.
Problems on a phone or tablet
Use landscape mode, close background apps and update your browser. If the page scrolls instead of reacting to your thumbs, open the game with the Open in a separate page link. If the phone gets hot, lower the brightness and take a short break.
A private room code does not work
Check that all four digits are correct, that the host is still on the waiting screen and that nobody else has joined, because the room locks to the first player who enters. Ask the host to create a fresh room and send a new code or link.
The microphone does not work
Voice chat only appears when a real opponent is connected. Press the microphone button and allow microphone access when your browser asks. If you refused earlier, change the permission in the browser's site settings and try again.
