Common Mistakes New Gamers Make
Almost every new player makes the same handful of mistakes. They are not about talent, and they are easy to fix once you know what to look for. Here are the most common ones and what to do instead.
Standing still or moving in a straight line
A target that moves predictably is easy to hit. New players often stop to aim or run straight at an opponent. Instead, strafe left and right while shooting and change direction at irregular times. Even a small change in rhythm makes your opponent miss.
Holding the trigger and reloading in the open
Holding the trigger empties the assault rifle fast, and the 1.5-second reload then leaves you helpless. Fire in bursts and reload when you are behind a wall or crate. This is the single most useful habit to build.
Ignoring health and medkits
Many players enter fights at half health because they do not think about medkits. The kits are only collected when you are hurt, and they restore 45 health. Learn where they appear and head for one before you are in trouble, not after.
Picking the wrong distance
Each weapon has a distance where it shines. The shotgun is only strong up close, the sniper rewards long lanes and the rifle is a middle-distance weapon. Fighting at the wrong distance is a common reason for losing. Read the mode-by-mode strategy guide to match your tactics to the weapon.
Tilting after a loss
A bad round makes people rush and take careless risks. Take a breath, decide on one thing to improve and play the next match calmly. If you are frustrated, take a short break. Then try one of the game guides, such as the Classic Duel Strategy Guide.
Frequently asked questions
What is the fastest improvement? Strafing and reloading behind cover.
Should I always chase a wounded opponent? Only if the chase is safe. Do not follow them across open ground at low health yourself.
How do I stay calm? Short breaks and one clear goal per match help.
