Shotgun Corridor Strategy Guide

By the Top-Down Arena team · October 31, 2026 · 6 min read

Shotgun Corridor is the fastest mode on the site. The arena is tight, the weapon is brutal at close range and almost useless at long range. Here is how to win in Shotgun Corridor.

How the weapon works

A blast fires seven pellets and each pellet deals 10 damage, so a perfect point-blank hit does up to 70 damage and two good blasts defeat an opponent. The pellets only travel a short distance, so anything farther than a couple of hundred pixels is out of range. You fire roughly once every 0.8 seconds, a magazine holds six shells and a reload takes 1.9 seconds.

Corners and corridors

Long walls and spawn barriers form narrow corridors. Approach corners in a wide curve so you see your opponent before you are in their range. Do not walk down a corridor in a straight line. If you stop behind a corner and wait, your opponent often walks into your range for you.

The center block

A solid block in the center creates a loop. Circle it and change direction suddenly to break your opponent's prediction. The computer opponent in this mode reacts quickly and likes to close the distance, so a loop gives you room to turn around and fire first.

Shells and medkits

Six shells go quickly. Count them, and reload as soon as you are behind a wall. Only up to two medkits can be on the map, so they matter more than in other modes. Take one when you are hurt and the path is safe.

Winning the first blast

Most fights are decided by who fires first at the right range. Fire as soon as your opponent enters it, then step back behind a wall during the short pause before your next shot. For a broader look at all four modes, read the mode strategy guide.

Frequently asked questions

What if my opponent is far away? Wait. A shot at long range wastes a shell.

Can I retreat safely? Only behind a wall. Backing away in a straight line lets a fast opponent follow and blast you.

How many hits is a kill? Usually two blasts.
